Your Nearness (Take Us There)

from Honor House by Antioch College Ministry

about

God's nearness has always been a focus of my worship. When our worship starts to flow out of our hearts rather than our mouths, we begin to feel His presence in the room.

"The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us..." - Acts 17:24-27

And out of the state of His nearness, my heart is filled with a song of joy. The line, "my heart is filled with a song of joy," actually came out of a place of desperation. As David cries, "Bless the Lord, O my soul," he literally beckons his own heart to come into the place of worshipping God irregardless of circumstance or emotion. God is worthy of my praise. And my heart's desire is to see and savor God. My heart was made to be filled with a song of joy notwithstanding my feelings or present life situations.

Fill my heart with a song of joy, God!

lyrics

Your nearness is our good
God Your nearness is our good
Yes, Your nearness is our good.
Take us there...

My heart is filled with a song of joy, song of joy

You came from Heaven, to love the nations
We give You praise, in all the earth
You are God of, our salvation
There’s no Name, of greater worth
